Entry #1: Final Destination 5 (2011)
Entry #1: Final Destination 5 (2011)

Director: Steven Quale
Writers: Eric Heisserer, Jeffrey Reddick
Genre: Horror
Trailer

I saw Final Destination: Bloodlines in the theater a few weeks ago so I decided that there was no better time than the present to rewatch the first 5 Final Destination movies in reverse order. I think out of all the movies in this series, this is the one I have the least to talk about. The acting is fine, the effects are fine (mostly), the premonition is fine, the kills are fine. Really, all I have to say about it is that it's the least Final Destination feeling movie in the series.
Entry #2: The Final Destination (2009)
Entry #2: The Final Destination (2009)

Director: David R. Ellis
Writers: Eric Bress, Jeffrey Reddick
Genre: Horror
Trailer

Continuing my Final Destination rewatch is The Final Destination, which is just as bad as I remember, even the title is bad. The only likeable character in this one is George, the rest are either complete assholes or more bland than unsalted Saltines. The effects look like they were either done by some edgy kid who just got their hands on Windows Movie Maker or came from a cutscene from a terrible PS1 game. This movie is so bad it feels like a poorly made parody of the series.

Entry #3: Final Destination 2 (2003)

Director: David R. Ellis
Writers: J. Mackye Gruber, Eric Bress, Jeffrey Reddick
Genre: Horror
Trailer

The Final Destination rewatch must go on with Final Destination 2, you likely noticed that I skipped Final Destination 3, that's because I'm saving it for a later watch with a friend. Anyways, this is one of the most solid entries in this series with the most likeable cast of the series, there was not a single main character who I hated or didn't care for. This also has the most well done premonition and some of the most well done kills of the series. There's a reason people are still scared of log trucks 22 years later. Besides some minor goofs, this is a pretty great movie.

Entry #4: Final Destination (2000)
Entry #4: Final Destination (2000)

Director: James Wong
Writers: Glen Morgan, James Wong, Jeffrey Reddick
Genre: Horror
Trailer

The Final Destination rewatch has finally brought me back to the beginning and honestly, this movie is a bit better than I remember. I thought it would be a complete slog but it honestly paces itself quite well. It features William Bludworth (my favorite character of the series) in his most prominent role throughout the series. The rest of the main characters are quite likeable as well and the premonition is quite good. However, besides Ms. Lewton and Billy, the kills aren't really all too memorable. Overall, a pretty solid start for the series.

Entry #5: Pontypool (2008)
Entry #5: Pontypool (2008)

Director: Bruce McDonald
Writer: Tony Burgess
Genre: Horror
Trailer

In the endless sludge of zombie movies many people seem to forget that unique doesn't always mean good. However, this movie manages to be both. Pontypool is a movie which I have been aware of for a while but never watched until now. I've always had a soft spot for horror media set in small town radio stations and this movie fits the bill perfectly, entirely taking place inside one. Most of the zombie action at the beginning is described exclusively through listener phone-ins and such which are specific enough to not be entirely confusing yet vague enough to still provide an eerie mystery. My only real issue with Pontypool is the social commentary, which, while good, is delivered entirely too on-the-nose. Overall, very solid and creative zombie movie.

Entry #6: UHF (1989)

Director: Jay Levey
Writers: Weird Al Yankovic, Jay Levey, Charles Holloway
Genre: Comedy
Trailer

I'm going to see Weird Al live in about a month so I decided to check out UHF, this is the funniest comedy movie I have ever seen (although I haven't seen many comedies). It's absurd humor is way ahead of its time. Weird Al is a national treasure.
Entry #7: Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004)
Entry #7: Ginger Snaps 2: Unleashed (2004)

Director: Brett Sullivan
Writers: Karen Walton, Megan Martin
Genre: Horror
Trailer

My mom has always been a huge fan of the Ginger Snaps trilogy so of course, after making me watch the first one, she would make me watch the second one. Particularly because she thought I would like the ending. And she was right. Not only is the ending fucking fantastic, the rest of the movie is great too. The makeup is great, the characters are good, and the story is solid. Now this movie doesn't have Ginger in it (besides as a "ghost" in a few scenes), which I know is a huge issue for some, but I was personally okay with it. Now is it as good as the first? No. Of course not. But this still holds up as a very worthy sequel.

Entry #8: Final Destination 3 (2006)

Director: James Wong
Writers: Glen Morgan, James Wong, Jeffrey Reddick
Genre: Horror
Trailer

Just got around to finishing my Final Destination rewatch and this movie is pretty solid overall, the premonition and kills are quite memorable. My only complaint is how the movie treats the characters of Ashley and Ashlyn and how Tony Todd only had a small cameo. Otherwise, it's pretty good.

Entry #9: Cabin Fever (2002)
Entry #9: Cabin Fever (2002)

Director: Eli Roth
Writers: Eli Roth, Randy Pearlstein
Genre: Horror
Trailer

This is a fairly solid cabin in the woods horror movie with great body horror. My main issue is with the main characters who majorally fit into the dudebro/weird hillbilly/horny girl archetypes.

Really good horror movie that would've been better than 28 Days Later if it wasn't for the ending.

Really lackluster sequel. Besides Slappy, there really aren't any recognizably Goosebumps characters. There's no Dylan Minnette and barely any Jack Black.

Entry #19: Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005)

Director: Jon Favreau
Writers: Chris Van Allsburg, David Koepp, John Kamps
Genre: Sci-Fi/Family
Trailer

This has always been my favorite children's movie and I hadn't watched it in a while (also I wanted a palate cleanser after Session 9) so I decided to rewatch it. This movie still holds up incredibly well, especially with the effects. The alien creatures still look nice and creepy.
Entry #20: Idle Hands (1999)
Entry #20: Idle Hands (1999)

Director: Rodman Flender
Writers: Terri Hughes Burton, Ron Milbauer

Aside from some unfunny jokes and 1 dimensional characters, this is a somewhat decent comedy horror movie. Not good, great, or perfect. Just decent.
Entry #21: Def by Temptation (1990)
Entry #21: Def by Temptation (1990)

Director: James Bond III
Writer: James Bond III
Genre: Comedy/Horror
Trailer

This is probably the first time I have ever wished to see a movie for the first time again immedeately after seeing it for the first time again right after seeing it for the first time because this movie is fantastic. So fantastic that it is now my second favorite movie of all time (right behind the original Candyman). The atmosphere stays incredibly fun throughout and it has one of the best kills I have ever seen in a horror movie (being eaten by a TV before a mess of blood and guts is spit back out). It's clearly low budget and a little cheesy at times. I didn't particularly care for the religioius themes but they aren't present enough to detract from the movie for me. Don't let the reviews decieve you, Def by Temptation is fucking awesome!

Entry #22: Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)

Director: Jay Roach
Writer: Mike Myers

Pretty good comedy that stands the test of time. I love the relationship between Scott and Dr. Evil. I do think they overdid it on the sex jokes a bit (although that is kind of the point of the movie).

Entry #23: Scream 2 (1997)
Entry #23: Scream 2 (1997)

Director: Wes Craven

Amazing sequel that I think is at least a smidge better than the original. Great opening scene, spectacular kills, awesome killer reveal. What more is there to ask for from a Scream movie?

Entry #24: It (1990)
Entry #24: It (1990)

Director: Tommy Lee Wallace
Writers: Lawrence D. Cohen, Tommy Lee Wallace, Stephen King
Genre: Horror
Trailer

Spectacular Stephen King adaptation, due in part from it's great cast. The effects hold up great and are genuinely eerie at some moments. The second part is easily the worst of the two but it is still very solid.

This was a pretty decent comedy horror movie until it ended with 10 minutes of nonstop evil witch action which is fucking awesome, even with the cheesy ass effects.

Entry #28: Body Bags (1993)

Surprisingly, despite my love of Jordan Peele's other 2 horror movies (Us and Nope), I had not seen this movie until today. This is one of the most mindbending and original horror movies I have ever seen.
